Hands down, our favorite place in Cabo Verde is Estoril Beach, in Sal Rei, Boa Vista. And we are no exception, as locals and tourists appreciate Estoril Beach alike.
Estoril Beach has everything you need
Cabo Verde has many beautiful beaches, but none is as friendly as Estoril Beach:
Estoril beach is the classic paradise with white sand, clear turquoise, and warm water all year round. Colorful little fishes swim around your legs, as it is never overloaded and never polluted. Thus it also is a perfect place for snorkeling and kite surfing.
Water temperatures at Estoril Beach only slightly vary between 23 and 26 °C:
- 25-26°C from May to November
- 23-24°C from December to April
The probably smoothest waves of Cabo Verde
The location of a tiny island, “Ilheu de Sal Rei” makes this beach especially friendly regarding wave intensity and size. This small land mass is located around 700 m offshore the beach and heads off the rough waves from the open oceans.
Thus Estoril Beach does not have the typical big waves of Cape Verde Beaches, which can get tricky for children or elderly tourists.
If you plan on traveling to Cape Verde with children or just love a smooth beach, Estoril is perfect for you!
No crowd, but relaxing restaurants, lounges and snorkeling
Luckily Boa Vista is generally not an overcrowded island, and we have never seen Estoril Beach filled with people. But don’t worry, there are lively activities and everything you need for your comfort:
Estoril has a few restaurants and beach clubs that are open to everyone. You can sip a drink with your feet in the sand or even eat delicious fresh fish at incredible prices.
Most restaurants on Estoril Beach do not have a website, which may be why this beach remains a secret treasure. Two of our favorites are:
